5:30 Pizza | 6:30 Film
Starting Friday, October 14th, Trinity Lenox will host a series of movies on the second Friday of each Month leading off with LUTHER. Starting with a 5:30 to 6:30 "slice hour”, the movie will follow at 6:30. Curated by Susan Bachelder who spent 20 years in films, these movies have been chosen for their value as both interesting films, and relevant history to the Trinity congregation.
Produced by the Lutheran Church in 2003, LUTHER presents the political dynamic behind the Christian reformation. Directed by Eric Till, with French Cinematographer Robert Fraisse, LUTHER was shot in English on location in Germany. It stars a Hollywood cast including Joseph Fiennes in the title role. Alfred Molina, Jonathan Firth, Claire Cox, Bruno Ganz, and Sir Peter Ustinov.
As some might know, the Lutherans and Episcopalians share many beliefs in common. So much so, that Sheffield’s Christ Church is both a Lutheran and Episcopal congregation. If you don’t know anything about Luther, this is a visually beautiful and compelling way to start his story.
On Friday, November 11th, we will dust off the epic story of Michelangelo’s painting of the Sistine Chapel, The Agony and the Ecstasy with Rex Harrison and Charlton Heston.
For Friday, December 9th, it will be Voter’s Choice between two of the greatest Christmas movies ever made - The Bells of St. Mary’s with Ingrid Bergman and Bing Crosby as Father O’Malley, or The Bishops’s Wife with Loretta Young, David Niven and Cary Grant as Dudley, the Angel. O’Malley vs. the Angel - who will win?
